The Arty Line - June 2024

Hello folks.

Another busy month - and not just hiding from the rain!

I’ve spent some time this month broadening my horizons and joining the Bonny Snowdon Academy - an amazingly talented colour pencil artist - increasing my skills with some colour pencil work to eventually add another style and medium to my repertoire.  Long way to go until I’m anywhere close to up-to-speed, but thoroughly enjoying learning something new.

George Simnett window display of  The Homestead - June 2024

Studio life continues, with the creation of a Spondon series of works. It’s my intention to create 8 pieces in this collection over the next few months.  Completed so far are St Werburghs Church, the magnificent Homestead in Spondon Village and Elvaston Castle, although not physically in Spondon, it feels like it fits.

I’ve also donated a print of The Homestead to the village to be given away at the Spondon Safari event. This is currently on display in George Simnett's window in their Spondon shop.

Last month I mentioned that I’d been selected as ‘Emerging Artist’ assisting local artist Jenny Stevenson with her Revitalising Melbourne project. I joined her in Melbourne earlier this month helping her deliver a float mounted workshop to the local art group there. It was a great day, with some really lovely work being created by all the members. It’s was a challenging project for them all, taking them well beyond their comfort zones, but they embraced it and thoroughly enjoyed it! And they all went home with a framed piece of art.

Top of next month's activities will be researching outlets to sell my creations and I'll also be looking at starting my new collection which will be 'Pubs of Derbyshire' .   Exciting times!

Well that’s all for now - see you next month for more of my shenanigans in The Arty Line….
