The Wobbly Easel is Derby’s very own independent sip & paint experience — created and run by local artist, Lisa Battelle. We’re not a franchise. We’re not polished or pretentious. We’re small, creative, and proud of it. Every event is designed to feel like a relaxed night out with friends — only with paint, brushes, and a canvas thrown into the mix.
Our sessions are all about:
- Fun over perfection (wonky sunsets and wobbly trees are very welcome).
- Trying something new without pressure or judgment.
- Sharing the experience with mates, colleagues, or complete strangers who might just become friends.
Whether it’s your first time holding a brush or you’re a dab hand, you’ll walk away with a painting you’ll be proud of — and a memory to match.

Meet Lisa
Hi, I’m Lisa — artist, maker, brownie-baker, and the person who’ll be guiding you through your painting at The Wobbly Easel.
I started The Wobbly Easel in 2025 after swapping a 35-year career in logistics for life as a full-time artist. What began as a “what if” idea has already grown into sold-out pub nights, private parties, and bookings for businesses who want something a bit different.
You don’t need to be “good at art” to enjoy making it. My sessions are about fun, laughter, and giving it a go — whether your brushstrokes are bold or a bit wobbly.
